The Paleogene/Neogene Faunal Transition in Central Europe, a Paleoherpetological Perspective
My research focuses on the Oligocene–Miocene transition and its impact on European reptile and amphibian assemblages. I investigate the diversity, evolutionary dynamics, and faunal turnover of Central European herpetofaunas during the late Oligocene–Early Miocene, a key interval for the emergence and diversification of many extant genera. My work combines the revision of historical collections with qualitative and quantitative analyses to reconstruct biodiversity patterns and palaeoenvironmental change.
