Activity

This research aims at investigating, from a geologic, petrologic, geochemical and geochronologic perspective, various metamorphic terranes from different orogenic contexts characterized by different ages but all representing portions of continental crust which experienced a metamorphic evolution at “extreme” conditions, i.e. at high/ultrahigh pressure (HP/UHP) and/or high/ultrahigh temperature (HT/UHT). The study focuses on:

  • the HP/UHP units exposed in the southern Dora-Maira massif, in the western Alps;
  • the central-eastern Karakorum terrane (HT metamorphism);
  • the Triassic orogenic belt of the Dabie Shan (HP/UHP and HT/UHT metamorphism);
  • the Paleoproterozoic North China Craton (HP/HT metamorphism).
